In just 2 and a half months, Le Fab Detroit has had over 1000 views! That may not be much to some, but it means a whole lot to me. To all my readers, I really appreciate you taking time to look at my blog and I have a big announcement: Le Fab Detroit has a new home -->

Detroit River Walk Jazz and Soul Concert Series
To quote The Isley Brothers "Summer breeze makes me feel fine, blowing through the Jasmine in my mind..." Picture this: Warm summer breeze blowing, Detroit River back drop, while being serenaded by the sounds of live jazz from local and national greats. Almost sounds too perfect a scene to be real, aye? Oh, but it is! Check out this concert series in the rear of the Roberts Riverwalk Hotel every Thursday night at 7pm, running until September 26th. Like their Facebook page to stay up to date on the scheduled performers. See you there!

Hart Plaza Festivals
Hart Plaza is big in my heart because I remember going there in the summers as a child and celebrating people of other cultures, eating traditional food from other countries, and just hanging out enjoying each others energy. This summer is no different. Hart Plaza kicked the summer off with the annual Movement Electronic Music Festival and will soon host our 55th, award winning,Freedom Festival fireworks display. Stay in the know of all the things popping off this summer at Hart Plaza by clicking here and check out this snippet from last year's fireworks:
Le Fab Detroit came as a result of me being homesick while living abroad. Over the past few years, I have been working as a teacher in South Korea and, most recently, Qatar. It is true what they say about Detroiters who leave: You always come back. I tend to come back in between my travels, but this time I wanted my return to be more meaningful. While traveling to other parts of the globe, it is not uncommon to get the "screw face" when you inform people that you are from Detroit. Usually the first thing people tend to ask is: "What part of Detroit are your from?" To which I reply: "Detroit. The westside." Then the conversation proceeds with the cliche, "It's rough in Detroit, right?" Or my favorite: "You're not gonna go all Detroit on us now are you?" Just like anyone who has known someone all their life, I know the good and the bad. Yet, I still love it for who it is because I feel that the pros out weigh the cons. Maybe I'm like that parent whose child runs rampant and is despised by all other parents on the playground who is always defending "Little Johnny's" behavior by saying things like, "He's just misunderstood." Well, I do feel that Detroit is misunderstood by people who've never even set foot on it's soil, and also those who have never left and had the luxury of missing it. I, Kay Lang (Krystal to those that know me), will tell my Detroit story. It is a story of beauty, creativity, hard work, and growth. Le Fab Detroit!!

River Breeze Dairy Freeze
This adorable little family owned ice cream shop in the Marina District of East Jefferson has a menu full of infinite ice cream delights. We've often passed my this place coming from Sinbads Restaurant and Marina, but didn't actually stop in until last summer. Boy oh boy!! We were so delighted (after driving around looking for an open Dairy Queen for an hour) to find they have every ice cream dream you could ever imagine from soft serve to hand packed, dipped cone to banana split, they've got it all!

Mootown Creamery and More
The fact that it's located in one of our favorite parts of town, the historic Eastern Market, is reason enough to love this place. After our Saturday morning ritual of breakfast at Russell Street Deli and shopping the market, we like to put a cherry on the day with a stop over at Mootown for a taste from their Hudsonville collection of flavors.

Takeover Tuesdays
It's no secret that pop-ups have become the latest way for aspiring entrepreneurs to test their products and begin making a name for themselves. The owners at St.CeCe's pub in Corktown have been gracious enough to open their kitchen and allow chefs and caterers to share their culinary creations with the public. Every Tuesday evening you can stop by St.CeCe's to get a taste from the diverse menu that comes along with each pop-up. Check their website each week to see if that night's guest chef has something that tickles your fancy.
One of our favorite things to do on Saturday morning after the the long work week, is to get up and head to the bakery for some well deserved sweet treats.
