Getting out there

With all the innovation, think tanking, and incubating going on in the city comes a lot of new social opportunities.

Drinks X Design

By partnering with Creative Corridor Center, Metro Times, and QuickenLoans, Drinks X Design brings Detroit a monthly event held at a different location on the second Thursday (January-October) of each month.  Attendees are able to become familiar with the innovators in the design community while conversing over libations. The next Drinks X Design event is May 9th. RSVP here

Takeover Tuesdays

It's no secret that pop-ups have become the latest way for aspiring entrepreneurs to test their products and begin making a name for themselves.  The owners at St.CeCe's pub in Corktown have been gracious enough to open their kitchen and allow chefs and caterers to share their culinary creations with the public.  Every Tuesday evening you can stop by St.CeCe's to get a taste from the diverse menu that comes along with each pop-up.  Check their website each week to see if that night's guest chef has something that tickles your fancy.

Warm and Sweet

One of our favorite things to do on Saturday morning after the the long work week, is to get up and head to the bakery for some well deserved sweet treats.  The Detroit area is full of phenomenal bakeries to get some of the freshest, tastiest treats for that weekend indulgence.  We have some favorites, just to name a few...

Avalon International Breads
Avalon International Breads is a jewel in Detroit's Midtown/Cass Corridor neighborhood. You know that feeling you get when you walk into a shoe store and EVERY shoe looks fabulous, so you want to buy them all?? That's how we feel every time we walk into Avalon.  The goodies are seasonally ever changing just like your favorite designer collections so yes, you should try them ALL!

Love's Custard Pies
We found Love's one Saturday afternoon during our ritual Eastern Market shopping trip. The crowd of patrons surrounding their booth, enjoying samples of the rich, decadent chess pies caught our attention and since then it's been love at first bite.We now make it a point to get to the market to pick up our pies early because they sell out fast! Or, you can order them online.

First Lady Cakes

First Lady Cakes is one of Detroit's most recent sweet sensations. This adorably, quaint baker over on Detroit's westside is constantly coming up with deliciously creative ways to make you justify taking just more bite.Ten more bites later, you stop counting. And for good reason.... Contact them by email and order some of their famous "Lady Cakes' for your next gathering, or just because.

Vintage is as vintage does

There's something very vintage about Detroit.  Whether it be the old fashioned cars driving down Woodward during the Dream Cruise or all of the new businesses that are turning up in some of the city's most historical buildings, you can't escape it.

Speaking of vintage, have you visited Nora's Vintage Loft, yet?  This trendy, vintage boutique in Detroit's Harmonie Park area will help fill your nostalgic tastebuds.

Norah's Vintage Loft is located at:
