Keeping Le Cool

If you've ever needed an excuse to eat ice cream, well you're in luck! These next few months in Detroit will be just as hot as they were cold in the winter months. While you're out, loving on the city, take a break to cool off...

River Breeze Dairy Freeze

This adorable little family owned ice cream shop in the Marina District of East Jefferson has a menu full of infinite ice cream delights. We've often passed my this place coming from Sinbads Restaurant and Marina, but didn't actually stop in until last summer. Boy oh boy!! We were so delighted (after driving around looking for an open Dairy Queen for an hour) to find they have every ice cream dream you could ever imagine from soft serve to hand packed, dipped cone to banana split, they've got it all!

Mootown Creamery and More

The fact that it's located in one of our favorite parts of town, the historic Eastern Market, is reason enough to love this place. After our Saturday morning ritual of breakfast at Russell Street Deli and shopping the market, we like to put a cherry on the day with a stop over at Mootown for a taste from their Hudsonville collection of flavors.

Nerveria La Michoacana

Located in southwest Detroit's beloved Mexican Village neighborhood, Neveria La Michoacana is loaded with refreshing ways to cool off. Their paletas, Mexican fresh fruit popsicles, come in a variety of tropical flavors like coconut, lime, mango, and more. Not to mention, they make their ice cream fresh..YUM!!!
